CLAY
Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals. It develops plasticity when wet, due to a molecular film of water surrounding the clay particles, but becomes hard, brittle and non–plastic upon drying or firing.
Due to its natural origin and its components, clay is not only an environmentally sustainable material but is also easy to recycle. Extracting clay from the soil is a process that has minimal impact on our environment. Combined with eco-friendly industrial practices, this makes this pure, raw material one of the most harmless materials to work with.
Different types of clay, when used with different minerals and firing conditions, are used to produce earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain and is one of the most compelling materials for construction and crafts.
