Wood Veneer
Wood veneer refers to the thin slices of wood that are layered onto surfaces to produce doors, tops and panels for furniture. Recyclable, non-toxic and bio-degradable, Wood Veneer is a far more energy-efficient material compared to solid wood.
Wood veneers are a cost-effective way to create unique decorative surfaces that can easily be maintained and replaced. Compared to solid wood, wood veneer is much more stable. While solid wood can be prone to warping and splitting over time, veneer is made of thin layers of wood glued together, the chances of splitting or cracking are greatly reduced.
The use of veneers results in a vastly reduced demand on solid wood and as such reduces the demand on natural wood resources. Deforestation is a major issue and using veneer extends the use of a piece of timber. The wood that might be used in one solid piece a few visible cm wide can cover a far greater area when used as a veneer.
Wood Veneer is a significant aspect of furniture-making, a durable and renewable resource that maximises its source material greatly.
