 Recycled Cashmere

One sheep generates enough fibre to manufacture five wool sweaters, but four goats are needed provide enough fibre to make a single cashmere sweater. This is why cashmere has long been regarded as a premium item. Fabrics such as cashmere are ubiquitous, as there is an abundance of any material used in the garment business.

Using 100% recyclable / re-usable cashmere means successfully re-engineering a material that redefines waste from the fashion industry and gives greater use to a natural fibre whilst leaving minimal carbon footprint.

Because cashmere is a natural fibre, unlike polyester, nylon, and other synthetics, its ability to biodegrade is not a problem. Furthermore, the utilisation of recycled Cashmere from worn garments and the excess left over from the refining process offsets the carbon footprint left behind when obtaining new cashmere from the goats used in manufacturing.

Cashmere waste is graded, re-dyed, and classified by colour and fibre before being returned to its natural state. The raw cashmere can be re-spun into new garments, insulation, or garment/textile base forms of décor. Reusing older cashmere has a lower environmental effect than manufacturing new cashmeres, which have a high load on water, energy usage, and CO2.
