Reclaimed Compacted Polystyrene
Our local reclamation yard is the first point of call if a project calls for polystyrene. They have a briquetting machine that compacts used poly into new pieces. Old polystyrene falls into the crushing chamber and are compacted at a volume reduction of around 40 - What results is a dense square block which can be easily stacked on to a pallet.
The 3 methods that effectively make polystyrene reusable are methods known as granulation, compacting, and densifying. The compacted polystyene is then given a new lease of life and can be used for insulation, model making and sculpting purposes.
