Natural Reed

Natural Reed is a type of grass belonging to the Poaceae family (the same as bamboo), and is one of the world’s most widely available wetland plant. Reeds are a durable and long-lasting material that is often more affordable than bamboo.Reed may be formed into a rigid board. They can also offer a curved plaster backing. Unfinished boards can also be utilised to construct feature walls, as insulation, or as a permanent structure. Reeds are increasingly being used in the manufacture of construction and supportive design/fabrication materials; such as moisture-resistant MDF boards and granulate panels.
The use of reed particles in composite boards provides high performance characteristics because their low density produces greater adhesion during hot pressing; more particles react together, better dispersing the load applied on them.Today. Reeds are a generally underutilised renewable natural resource that delivers a wide variety of ecosystem activities and services despite requiring little intervention.

The recent resurrection of traditional reed material use for construction materials, along with new applications, helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by substituting fossil fuels. Furthermore, sustainable reed management aids in the absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
