 Nylon Flocking Material

In prop making, flocking is the process of applying short monofilament fibres, either natural or synthetic materials such as cotton, rayon, nylon and polyester, directly to a surface that has been coated with an adhesive. This forms a pile and has a velvety smooth texture to it. The application is long-lasting and permanent.

During the flocking process, the flock particles are electrically charged, forcing them to stand up at right angles to the base, the fibres are pushed and attached into the glue.

Flock may be used on a variety of surfaces, including glass, metal, plastic, paper, and textiles. Flock comes in a variety of colours and lengths to help achieve a desired look.

Make Material Properties

Material Make Natural or synthetic materials such as cotton, rayon, nylon and polyester.
Applications Decorative purposes in Prop Making or Sculpture fabrication.
Sustainability Level Using natural fibres, a sustainable resource, as they are renewable, biodegradeable. Using recycled nylon for flocking diverts waste from landfills and its production uses much fewer resources than virgin nylon (including water, energy and fossil fuel).
