Adé Bolaji found object sculpture

This is probably one of our favourite Make jobs, such a great artist to work with and loved assembling and sourcing this artwork together from scratch. Upcycled materials forever!

Exhibition props for Engage Works

We recently worked with Engage Works to cad design and fabricate a series of playful architectural models and nine props for collaboration with Abu Dhabi Childhood Authority. The models and props are to be used to exhibit collected data on underprivileged children in order to change government policies.

We kept the elements simple and colourful, using Valchromat wood in various colours to compliment the branding and environment. A great project to make!

Happy hump day

Sending some mid-week motivation via workshop hero, Toad. Always representing.

Art fabrication with artist Adé Bolaji

Rounding off 2022, we once again had the pleasure of assisting artist Adé Bolaji turn his painted characters into fabricated sculptural forms. For his latest piece which was exhibited at the “Bitter Nostalgia” show at the Saatchi Gallery, we worked closely with Adé to source upcycled materials to bring an initial sketch to life in 3d form.

It’s always a pleasure to work with Adé, his work epitomising our belief that beautiful and unique forms can be made from previously used and discarded materials :)

For more of Adé Bolaji’s sculptural work, please check out our other collaborations with him here, and if you require any assitance with any art fabrication project, please get in touch!

GVA Lighting Event Light Arrangement Installation

GVA Lighting recently hosted an evening at the architecturally stunning The Crypt, Trafalgar Square, London. Steeped in culture and history, the venue was equipped with a selection of quirky alcoves, all illuminated using GVA Lighting fixtures.

Make It London helped fabricate the impressive and eye catching flower and light arrangement installation, illuminated using GVA Lighting fittings, for the talented London based, MOS, by Sasha Grigorik.

Spark Sculpture for Trinny London

Beauty brand Trinny London hosted an interactive retail pop-up experience at The Vinyl Factory in London to celebrate the brand's recent skincare launch.

Guests had the chance to meet chief executive Trinny Woodall, who hosted talk sessions with special guests, alongside exploring immersive zones that helped to communicate the benefits of the brand's skincare products.

Visitors entered a sterile room with people wearing white lab coats who gave instructions on how to compile your skincare journey using the Trinny London online tool.

A doorway opened into an indoor garden that was an explosion of colour and vibrance. The first product area was dedicated to cleansers, which were constructed into an installation of a yellow big bang, our Spark sculpture made for the launch.

The VM and Display Show

World-changing thinkers and innovators all under one roof. The VM and Display Show is the longest-running exhibition for the industry and an excellent place to find inspiration for the year ahead!

Our stall showcased 3D assemblage artwork which paid homage to Picassoʼs ʻThree Musiciansʼ cubist painting originally made in 1921.

We crafted the shapes together, using new materials, tools, and processes that perhaps were not around when the work was originally made. All the shapes are made from sustainable, recycled & creative materials, including mushroom mycelium , valchromat, cork, chipboard, recycled plastic, Formica, doormat coconut hair, old mop string, brass from a trumpet, and more!

Our website has a range of material ideas to help inspire and inform creative build projects, with a special focus on alternative & sustainable materials to choose from.

Botanical Bodging Workshop and the Festival of Stuff

The Festival of Stuff finale was back last Saturday 25th June and was bursting with delectable making madness. Once again the streets outside the Institute of Making were full of demonstrations and making stations.

Botanical bodging was a hands-on workshop using everyday objects to create and assemble anthropomorphic junk flowers, using upcycled objects collected from rubbish tips and car boot sales. We invited participants to choose objects that resembled the stem, leaf, and petal and attach them together by drilling, screwing, and gluing to create weird and wonderful junk flowers.

Spring is here

We have created a few displays for Gina Shoes, here you can see our latest Spring theme, creating an inviting optimistic mood to suit the season . To display the shoes here we have used recycled polyester for the clouds and green cast glass-look acrylic shoe stands to support the shoes themselves.

‘Huge thanks!

Everyone is very happy with the new windows, and they really achieve their objective of feeling fresh.
